Dear NSP High School Families,

North Shore Plaza has high expectations for student learning and behavior.  While technology can be a great asset, it can also distract students and turn their focus away from education.  Therefore, there will be a couple of changes this year with technology.

·   Cell Phones

o   Students in grades 7 and 8 will no longer be permitted to have their cell phones or smart watches in the classroom.  Those devices must remain in their lockers throughout the day.  They can check them in-between classes and use them at lunch.

o   Students in grades 9-12 will be expected to keep their cell phones out of sight unless a teacher gives them permission to use them.

o   We ask that you help us by not calling/texting any of your students during class.  If it is an emergency, please call the school office, and they will connect you with your student.

o   If you feel you have a situation where your students are required to have a phone/watch, please contact Mrs. Hochhalter or Mrs. Gerding.

·   Computers

o   Students in grades 7-9 will not be allowed to take their school devices home with them.  Throughout the year, we found that most of the devices were not used for homework at home, but rather for non-school purposes such as watching movies, playing games, etc.…

o   Students will be expected to put their computers in their assigned cart at the end of each day.  This will also ensure that the computers are fully charged and ready to use the following day.

o   However, if a student needs their computer for homework, they will need a pass from a teacher.  The student’s 7th-hour teacher is responsible for checking out computers at the end of the day.

Thank you for supporting NSP, and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
