The high school art students started out the semester practicing their communication skills. One student (the artist) sat with their back to the board while the other students in the group (the directors) described the object on the board for them to draw. The "directors" could only use directions and shapes when describing the objects: draw a vertical line, then draw a square, etc.
Even though the objects were simple, the task proved to be a challenge. The students learned that their directions needed to be detailed and specific in order for the artist's drawing to closely resemble the object on the board.
