The above picture is a mission patch for the Artemis mission for Nasa which is trying to establish a semi-permanent base on the Moon. The 7th grade stem class was tasked to create a Mission Patch for Mars. The 7th grade Stem class made a decision to use Mars regolith (which is like soil) to try and grow plants of their choosing using the Mars regolith and top soil. We are about half way through our growing mission. Some plants are growing and some plants are not, so we will have to regrow starting next week. I will post the finished growing season in April. The plants we are growing are baby carrots, sugar snap peas, banana papers, water cress, strawberries, mint, and sweet potatoes. At the half way grow point, the 7th graders are tasked with making a mission patch for their experiment that could have some of the following characteristics: City, School, State, Mars, plant they are growing, and other items. It was up to them as a group to decide what they wanted to have on their mission patch. Below is the following pictures of mission patches that the 7th grade students have come up with.
