The 2nd graders had the opportunity to enjoy a book written by a family member of Natalie DeBilt on Tuesday. The name of the book is The Farm Chicken's New Shoes. This North Dakota author is the cousin of Natalie's Mom, Alisha DeBilt. Her name is Mariah Nienhuis and she lives on a farm in Lawton, ND, which is in the Devils Lake area. The illustrator of the book, Logan Dais, is also from the same area and they belong to the same church.
Mariah got the idea for the book from her own childhood. She actually wondered what kind of shoes a chicken could comfortably wear when she was a little girl!
