Students choosing where to spend their "beans"

The Junior Financial Literacy class practiced their budgeting skills by playing the Bean Game in class on Friday. Everyone started with a 20-bean "salary" and had to designate their beans to various expenses based on their assessment of whether their time, energy, and money were worth it. Students had to cover their necessities first and then move on to discretionary items, or wants.

Once students were finished with their budgets, they found out that if they wished to keep their jobs, they would have to take a reduction in pay to only 13 beans! Students had to take a close look at themselves and their values around money through the process of cutting down their budgets.student assigning beansstudent bean budget
